Guest Blog post by J. Scott on her experience writing Dominant Business. A few people on twitter have asked me how I came to the premise and the details of my book "Dominant Business". The story is a bisexual submissive romance between a two women. Bianca and Ruby. Bianca Ristretto, is a hard nosed Business woman, whose business is sending successful partners to teach "real" business classes. She is dominant by nature and has a sexy secret that plays out as a major plot in the story. Ruby Phillips,is the student who has no interest in business but needs it to graduate. Being a medical student, she doesn't understand the need for intro to business classes, but it's what they want. Needless to say, she's not very good to start off and it causes some problems. The big part of the story is the Dom/sub relationship that builds between the two women. The power play and the evolution of the mindset and between Ruby and Bianca are a constant current in the story. I've always been a firm believer in the psychological development of a character in stressful situations. So when I wrote this, I wanted to explore how a young mind came to grow and accept certain levels of domination. For those who might wonder, yes I've experienced a certain level of the Submissive mindset in the time prior to writing this story, so while my experience may not span the depth of the story, I do feel there is a truth to the nature of what I am exploring. I feel the beautiful thing about this story is that despite the domination and submission aspects, both characters grow out of the person they were when the story started. While there are some pretty intense things asked of Ruby, seeing the growth, I feel gives this story the emotional connection that most romance or erotica stories lack. I can't wait to hear the fan reviews of my book "Dominant Business - An LGBT Submissive Romance" released 30 April 2020. J. ScottUp and coming author who weaves steamy images of sexy love in contemporary and imaginary settings of fiction for discerning thoughtful readers who seek escape.

After collaboration from our editor and our cover design team, it appears that J. Scott's "Learning the Ropes" a LGBT powerplay BDSM erotica romance novel is slated to be released 30 April. We're VERY excited to be able to announce this as it would be our inaugural publish and an opportunity to show the public our process and our confidence in our plan. J. Scott is a new author, finally getting her chance to put her words to paper. Her background is in deep character creation and collaborative fiction, and this story will pull the reader into the depths of the BDSM world and also the heart of the two very real main characters. You can sign up for a sample of the book here. Stay tuned for more on "Learning the Ropes" and J. Scott's future releases here! It would seem that in today's world, more and more people are simply relying on Amazon KDP or one of the other indie publishing sites to "get their book out". Especially in light of the fact that more traditional publishing houses are less and less inclined to take on new, unsolicited, submissions from unknown authors.
So what's an author to do. Speaking from experience, I know how tough publishing with Smashwords or Amazon KDP can be. You don't know what you're doing, or how you're doing it, but you have a great book that you think everyone would want to read. Only to watch your sales in the first months barely trickle out of the single digit range. It's tough! What's an indie author to do? You're a writer, not a marketer or a publicist. Even if you are as a day time job, you want to write. You want to do what you love in your off time. It doesn't help that the game for the most part is still rigged. If you've ever looked at the top 100 best selling books on Amazon, at least fifty percent of them are either publishing houses or authors with twenty books under their name. So breaking into even the top 1000 for the most part is VERY difficult for most authors.
