It would seem that in today's world, more and more people are simply relying on Amazon KDP or one of the other indie publishing sites to "get their book out". Especially in light of the fact that more traditional publishing houses are less and less inclined to take on new, unsolicited, submissions from unknown authors.
So what's an author to do. Speaking from experience, I know how tough publishing with Smashwords or Amazon KDP can be. You don't know what you're doing, or how you're doing it, but you have a great book that you think everyone would want to read. Only to watch your sales in the first months barely trickle out of the single digit range. It's tough!
What's an indie author to do? You're a writer, not a marketer or a publicist. Even if you are as a day time job, you want to write. You want to do what you love in your off time. It doesn't help that the game for the most part is still rigged. If you've ever looked at the top 100 best selling books on Amazon, at least fifty percent of them are either publishing houses or authors with twenty books under their name. So breaking into even the top 1000 for the most part is VERY difficult for most authors.
Disruptive Publishing focuses on making sure that authors have data at their fingertips and experience guided by wisdom focused on making their book shine. It's not easy and there's no guarantee, but having support in getting your material to market is what we do. This is both the reason why we work with out authors to get their book ready and make sure they have the necessary information to make informed decisions regarding the value of their work.
